Welcome!

So you've found the New Work Austin website. You want to contribute. But how?

I'll walk you through how the website is laid out and give you a few pointers to get going. Ready? Let's get started.

THE VISION OF OUR COMMUNITY:
The Austin New Works community is the epicenter of new performance work in the United States, providing its members a vital livelihood and dynamic support in the creation of their new work.  The Austin New Works community shifts the way theater making is perceived and pursued in this country, drawing artists and audiences from across the nation and the world to participate in both a rich, dynamic tapestry of creative work and to engage in the conversations born by that work.

Check in with Mellon Foundation: The Triumvirate had a very successful conference call with the Mellon Foundation to check in on the status of the grant.  They are pleased with our work and the direction we are going to clarify our objectives for the future of our community.  Etta Sanders rocks, for those of you who didn’t already know.

CONSULTANT VISIT:  Nello McDaniel will visit May 30th – 31st, with a governance meeting on Wednesday afternoon, March 30th. If you are expected to be there, you have already been contacted.  If I haven’t contacted you and you think you should be there, let me know.  This meeting is for people who have been highly involved in the planning process for the grant or played major roles in the clusters.  Nello will also be meeting with smaller groups during his time here as we begin to make a strategic plan for the future.

Austin Arts Commission: is on May 21st @ 5:30 @ City Hall. These happen regularly and it is a good opportunity to check in with your city arts commissioners to let them know what you think about the state of the arts in Austin.

Announcements:

THE VORTEX HAS A SUDDEN OPENING right now: So the space is available from now until June 2 if anyone would like an empty theatre to do something for 1 night or several.  Contact Bonnie, she will be flexible about rental costs because of the last minute cancelation.
